Ganden Samye Trek has one of the rich cultural heritage of Tibet. The Ganden Samye Valley Trek is an adventure and wilderness trek in Tibet that goes through the alpine landscapes, high lakes and high passes, the camp of herders on the grazing land of Tibet and the sacred sites. The trek begins from The Ganden Monastery (4180 m), 32 km by road from Lhasa high above the Kyichu River and ends at The Samye Monastery. The main temple Utse at Samye represents Mount Meru, the center of the Universe. Ganden Samye Trek in Yarlung valley is the only authentic way to experience Tibetan cultures and its landscape beauty. May to the middle of October is the best time for this trekking in Tibet. Summer will be wet but the mountains are at their greenest and wildflowers spangle the alpine meadows. Before trekking to Ganden and Samye, we have a couple of days in Lhasa for the Lhasa tour and it helps well acclimatized for Ganden Samye trekking.

Detail itinerary

Upon arrival at Kathmandu airport, we will receive you there and drive together to hotel for the trip briefing and the completion of your Tibet visa application form

Breakfast and Kathmandu guided sightseeing tour visits the important history and heritage sites of Kathmandu such as Kathmandu durbar square, Swoyambhunath stupa, Boudhanath stupa and Pashupatinath Temple. Kathmandu is the fantastic centres of cultural and spritual significance and has more world Heritage sites than any other city in the world.

Breakfast and drive to Kathmandu airport for an hour spectacular flight over the Mount Everest to Lhasa. On arrival at Lhasa airport you will be received by your Tibetan tour guide and drive to hotel in Lhasa city that takes 2 hours.

Drive 50km north west of Lhasa to Ganden Monastery, founded in 1400 by Tsongkhapa, is the main seat of the Gelugpa Buddhist sects. Explore the Ganden monastery and commence trek to Gyana.

The five hours trek along an ancient trail and take in scenic views of unusual beauty from the ridge of the ancient view Hepu village. We walk through Ani Pagong, a narrow part of the trail that was once home to a nunnery and ascend to Yama Do.

Trek through a steep gully to the banks of a stream. Trek up to Shung La pass and begin a descent through fields of glacial boulder. Tsotup Chup is actually a large stream that flows through the valley, and we will cross his tream toward the end of the trek.

Trek following the Tsotup Chu towards the rocky mountain pass of Chitu La and descend into the exquisitely beautiful camping grounds and fields around the tributary of the Tsotup Cho. En route we pass the picturesque Herder's camp.

The easy trek through alpine forest and lakes. There has contrast landscapes pass the village of Changtang and Yamalung, and ancient hermitage. Final leg of the trek cuts through the Samye valley along a beautiful stream.

Trek to Samye, visit Samye monastery and drive to Gyantse is a remarkable place that has escaped from much of the Chinese influence.

Guided Gyantse sightseeing visit Gyantse Dzong and Kumbum monasterya and drive to Xigatse, the second largest town of Tibet. In the aftern visit Tashilunpo Monastery of Xigatse, the seat of Panchen Lama literally the Great Scholar.

Breakfast and continue drive to Friendship highway to Nyalam. Drive accross the rolling plains of the Tibetan Plateau to reach the Lalung La (5050m) and head down to the spectacular bhote koshi gorge to Nyalam.

Breakfast and drive down to Tibet/Nepal border via Zhangmu. After completing immigration and customs formalities in Tibet and Nepal, we continue drive by our private bus or Jeep to Kathmandu.
